Shelby County woman arrested on embezzlement charge | Crime

Decatur Police arrested a former employee of Elder Care of North Alabama for embezzlement. Investigators say the president of the organization told police more than $50,000 was taken from the business.

Investigators say they developed Amy Machelle Smith as a suspect. U.S. Marshal arrested Smith in Shelby County.

Smith is charged with theft. Her bond is set at $100,000.
