Young Author
Ethan Thornton a 7 year old ad first grader in Helena Elementary has published an ebook. He wrote it over the past year and wants to donate the money to the American Cancer Society. Ethan wants to be a scientist that cures cancer when he grows up. He is trying to get a head start with his writing. I hope he succeeds! Helena's La Reunion Idol!
Ashley Partridge  is the Helena 2012 La Reunion Idol winner. Not only will she receive a big prize pack but she will perform at the  Buck Creek Festival this Weekend at 7:45pm on Friday. Everyone was awesome and thank to them for making the 2012 La Reunion Idol the best ever!

The Award winning  HMS Band Concert will have a concert Monday night at 7 at PHS!

Winners!
8U Sidewinders WIN the Early Summer Shootout tournament in Athens, AL! 8yr old Helena Sidewinders placed 1st in their tournament in Athens. I will tag you a couple of pictures.

HBPA
Helena Business and Professional Association has donated the 4th addition to the playground for those that are counting there are 3 tree houses in the park. Treehouse #2 was washed away in the flood a few years back. Can't wait to see all of the little kiddies on the playground during the Buck Creek Festival and Movies in the Park.

Cahaba Lilies
Charnita has made the trip to see the endangered Cahaba Lilies in Helena. She shared the pictures with the rest of us. Thank Charnita!

Helena Elections
We are getting close to the 3 month point for Helena Elections. I know that I am running for city council but I would like to do a post for everyone running for city council. So far all the incumbents have not said they are not running: Sonny, Jerry, Leigh, Katherine, Barbara, and Cris. I do know that Leslie, Greg, Mark, and Matt said they are planning on running.
