Special Meeting March 13th | Events
Special Called City Council
The Helena City Council met at 11:30am on Tuesday to vote on three issues.
Resolution 03122013 was the decision about who to chose for the newsletter. Both were professional companies but the Council voted to accept the offer from Meridian Graphics which is owned by Helena local Dave Smith. Dave Smith has been doing the Helena newsletter for the past 19 years. The offer was overall a savings from the cost from last year but still provides the Helena City News that everyone is used to receiving. The newsletter will return but will also be bimonthly with set days for arrival.
The second issue was to authorize the Mayor to execute an agreement with the Alabama Communities of Excellence. The organization would help Helena with long term goals of improving the city. Our representative to the group would be the very talented Katherine Ennis.
The final issue was to execute a agreement for IT Support for the City (All Departments). The agreement would retain all the current services but saves the City over $14,000 over four years.
