Memorial Day Weekend
Thank you to all those who are serving and to those who have served. If you haven’t visited the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo then it is worth the trip. They will have an official Memorial Day ceremony on May 28th at 9am.

Other things to do: You can also visit the Old Harmony graveyard across from HES or take the opportunity to see the Cahaba Lilies Cove in Helena. In fact they are having the  Cahaba Lilies Festival  down the road in West Blocton where they have the largest grouping of Cahaba Lilies in the world...but I still think ours are prettier.

Museum: I would also recommend you visit the Helena Museum where Ken has a display of war memorabilia that has been collected by Helena Veterans. Ask him to tell you the story about the two brothers who survived the wars but then came back to fight a pistol with each other in the streets. You will never guess what career path the winner took in Helena.

Carmella’s
Carmella’s Italian Ice located in Old Town Helena has announced that they will be open every day starting Memorial Day.  Hours will be Mon – Sat.  12 -8, Sun.  1 – 7.

Warehouse Hobby Raceway
Warehouse Lobby Racing will be having remote control vehicle racing. They will start Saturday at 8am and practice on Monday 10am-8pm. You can turn at the Helena Museum in Old Town (Go upstairs and say Hi to Ken) follow that road until you see some warehouses with a fence around it. The Raceway is the first building and they have a sign up. Loading Dock South is the building behind them.

Fatal Honeymoon
The story of the Helena woman Tina Watson, who died on her honeymoon, is being made into a Lifetime movie with Emmy Winner Billy Miller and Harvey Keitel. The article doesn’t discuss if any part will be filmed in Helena, AL but it is currently filming in the Gold Coast in Australia.LINK
