Due the possibility of freezing rain, Jefferson County Schools has delayed one hour. If Shelby Co makes a change, it will appear between 5am-6am at http://www.shelbyed.k12.al.us. It looks like it will be in the Northeast of the Alabama but you never know.

Happy Robert Burns Day (have some haggis) and here are the events in Helena this weekend  Email me if you have public event in Helena and I will add it.

Friday
9pm Broach and Bongo will perform at Papa Saias. Also they have a shipment of fresh oyster this weekend which they will be serving raw and grilled.
9pm Whiskey Dix will perform at Rio's Bar and Grill

Saturday
9pm Johhny D Karoke will be a Rio's Bar and Grill
9pm-1am Greg Shirley performs at Papa Saias

Planning and Zoning
The Planning and Zoning commission met Thursday Night and approved 4755 Helena Road from Residential to the Special Renaissance District B-4. The B-4 is what Old Town is zoned. They also approved a modification to the the Design Review and Cell Tower Committee. Both will go before the City Council at their next meeting.

Friends of Helena Schools
Coming up soon the Friends of Helena Schools will be the first non-profit to have a fundraiser at the new Helena Zaxby on Tuesday Feb 5th. starting at 5pm until close. 10% of all money will go for the group which will be used to support the schools.  You can learn more or join at friendsofhelenaschools.org or you can like their facebook page for updates.
