McDonalds New Owner
The Helena McDonald’s has a new owner starting today. Jason Black. I was able to speak with him. Here’s what he has to say,  “I live in Helena and can't wait to show Helena how friendly, tasty, and fast a McDonald's can be. Please spread the word. There will be new faces immediately visible in the restaurant. And I will be looking for more smiling faces to join the team”. Congrats Jason!

Baseball Scholarship
Fletcher Johnson is going to attend the University of Tennessee-Martin this coming Fall. He was awarded the Chancellor's Academic Scholarship. He also plays on the PHS baseball team and will be able to play there as well. Way to Go!

Helena Weekend Calendar
A great weekend in store for us with even a chance of snow. I will be at HES as part of their Read America program today if any of you are around. As don't forget that Stillman College junior Lawrence Allen Brown and Helena native will be competing on the 2013 Ford Black College Quiz Show that will air on local channel WABM on March 2-3.

Friday 3/1
9pm-1pm Bobby Legg will be performing tonight at Papa Saia’s. They will also have all you can eat buffalo wing buffet at lunch today and will be offering fresh Oyster during the Weekend

9pm- til Sam Foster Project makes their debut appearance at Rio's. They play a little bit of everything...rock to country. For a sample of Sam's sound http://www.reverbnation.com/samfoster

Saturday 3/2 

9am-4pm Model Railroad Show at First Baptist with Smokey City Rails Model Railroad Club and the Magic Valley Chapter of the Train Collectors Association
We will have door prizes every hour.
Admission is $6 for adults and children older than 12 years. Admission for children 8-12 years is $2. Children under the age of eight years are admitted free.

7:00pm- 10:00pm Masquerade Ball at the Helena Sport Complex to raise money for the Helena Belles Scholarship fund as well a silent auction. You can still buy tickets.

9pm-1am Broach an Bongo perform at Papa Saia’s

9pm Momma B karaoke at Rio’s Bar and Grill

  Feb. 11
-Failure to appear from 816 Highway 52 East (jail, prison).
-Identity theft from the 300 block of Stonecreek Circle (residence, home). Stolen was a debit card.

Feb. 12
-Leaving the scene of an accident from Helena Road (parking lot, garage). Damaged was a front grill in the amount of $500.
-Identity theft from the 1500 block of Cunningham Drive (government, public building).

Feb. 13
-Driving under the influence of alcohol from Highway 261 at Second Street (highway, street).
-Public intoxication from the CVS parking lot (drug store).
-Theft of property from Walgreen’s (drug store). Stolen were three credit cards, a $100 Walmart gift card and a pocketbook valued at $15.

Feb. 14
-Identity theft from an unknown location (bank). Stolen were $100 in bank debits.
-Narcotic investigation from the 300 block of County Road 277 (residence, home). Recovered were a broken glass pipe containing "mary jane" residue valued at $5, a plastic pipe containing "mary jane" residue valued at $5, a coke bottle with a socket and marijuana residue valued at $5 and oval pills valued at $5.

Feb. 15
-Theft of property second degree from the 2100 block of County Road 58 (residence, home). Stolen was a utility trailer valued at $2,000.
-Driving under the influence from the 5100 block of Highway 17 (highway, street). Confiscated was a counterfeit $20 bill.
-Missing person from the 100 block of Lake Davidson Lane (residence, home).
-Domestic incident from the 4300 block of Morningside Drive (residence, home).

Feb. 16
-Unlawful possession of "mary jane" from County Road 95 (highway, street). Recovered were 15 grams of a green leafy substance valued at $200.
-Harassment from the 200 block of Amy Lane (residence, home).

Feb. 17
-Driving under the influence of alcohol from Highway 261 at Old Town (highway, street).

Feb. 18
-Criminal mischief third degree from the 1100 block of Lawley Street (residence, home). Damaged was the rear window of a vehicle in the amount of $200.
