Shelby Co. Sheriff: Stolen property call leads to vehicle chase in Four Mile community | News
WILSONVILLE, AL (WBRC)- The Shelby County Sheriff's Office has shed light on what lead to a vehicle chase and suspect search Monday, Aug. 26.
Deputies received an anonymous tip regarding some stolen property located at a resident on Meadow Crest Farm Road in the Wilsonville area.
Upon their arrival, deputies discovered a truck and tractor on the property that had been reported stolen.
They then saw a vehicle fleeing through and field and a fence line behind the residence. Shortly after sending out a BOLO for the vehicle, deputies spotted it in the Four Mile area and a vehicle chase began.
The suspect eventually stopped the vehicle, jumped out and ran. This action prompted a search with tracking dogs but the suspect was not found. Around the same time, children were being taken home from school. The sheriff's office said at the time that buses in and near the search area would not allow kids off the bus unless a parent or guardian was present.
Deputies said Monday that all children got home safely.
Back at the Meadow Crest Farm road residence, deputies executed a search warrant and discovered a total four stolen pick up trucks, one tractor and a trailor.
The homeowner, Eric Lynn Vining, 39, of Wilsonville, was arrested and charged with four counts of receiving stolen property first degree. He is being held in the Shelby County Jail on a total bond of $120,000.
The investigation continues and additional charges may be filed. If you have any information you are urged to call the sheriff's office at 205-669-4181.
